Terms of use

The rules for using VeloCars. VeloCars lists cars for dealers and is not a party to any sale between a buyer and a dealer.

Last updated 1 November 2026

In short: VeloCars is a listing platform. Dealers list cars and buyers contact them directly. VeloCars is not the seller and is not part of any sale. Check every car and its documents yourself, and pay only once you are satisfied.

1. About these terms

These terms apply to anyone who uses VeloCars (velocars.co.ke), which is operated by VeloCars (“VeloCars”, “we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use VeloCars. You must be 18 or older to create an account, send an enquiry or list a car.

2. What VeloCars does, and what it does not do

  • VeloCars publishes vehicle listings created by dealers, and passes buyers’ enquiries to the dealer who listed the car.
  • VeloCars does not own, sell, buy, import, inspect, value or deliver any vehicle, and is not an agent for any buyer or dealer.
  • Any sale, deposit, instalment plan, import or other agreement is made directly between the buyer and the dealer. VeloCars is not a party to it.
  • VeloCars does not receive or hold payments for vehicles. Anyone asking you to pay for a car “through VeloCars” is not acting for us.

3. Listings and information

Dealers write and are responsible for their listings, including photos, price, mileage, specifications, features, condition, availability and arrival dates. We do not check listings for accuracy and do not guarantee that a listing is correct, complete, current or lawful, or that a car is available. Prices are set by the dealer and may change. Estimates such as import duty or landed cost are estimates only; the final amounts are set by KRA and the dealer.

4. Buyers

  • Inspect the car, test-drive it and confirm its documents before paying anything. Our buying safely guide explains how.
  • Pay only once you have confirmed the car, and only to the dealer’s business account. Get a written agreement and receipts.
  • Give accurate contact details when you send an enquiry, and use them only to deal with the dealer about that car.

5. Dealers

  • List only vehicles you own or are authorised to sell, with accurate details, real photos of the actual car and the true asking price.
  • Keep listings up to date and mark cars as reserved or sold promptly.
  • Respond honestly to buyers, honour the terms you agree with them, and comply with Kenyan law, including consumer protection, tax and data protection law.
  • Use buyers’ personal data only to respond to their enquiry and to complete the sale they asked about.
  • Your use of the dealer workspace is also covered by your subscription with VeloCars.

6. Verified dealers

A “Verified dealer” badge means VeloCars has checked certain business details of that dealer at a point in time. It is not an endorsement or a guarantee of the dealer’s cars, conduct or ability to complete a sale, and we may remove it at any time.

7. Things you must not do

  • Post false, misleading or duplicate listings, or photos of a different car.
  • List stolen vehicles, vehicles with forged documents, or anything you have no right to sell.
  • Use VeloCars to defraud, harass or spam anyone, or to ask buyers for advance payments for cars they have not seen.
  • Copy listings or data from VeloCars in bulk, or interfere with the site’s security or operation.

8. Suspension and removal

We may remove or hide any listing, and suspend or close any account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, a listing is misleading, or a user poses a risk to others.

9. Content and intellectual property

Dealers keep ownership of the photos and text they upload, and give VeloCars a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, resize and share that content to run and promote the marketplace, including in search engines and social previews. The VeloCars name, logo and site design belong to us.

10. No warranty

VeloCars is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we give no warranty about any listing, vehicle, dealer or buyer, or that the site will always be available or error-free.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Kenyan law, VeloCars is not liable for any loss or damage arising from:

  • a vehicle, its condition, history, documents, price, import, delivery or registration;
  • any agreement, payment or dispute between a buyer and a dealer;
  • anything a user says or does, on or off VeloCars;
  • relying on information in a listing.

Our total liability to you for anything else connected with VeloCars is limited to the fees you paid VeloCars in the six months before the claim. For buyers, that is nothing, because the service is free. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

12. Disputes between buyers and dealers

Disputes about a car or a sale must be resolved between the buyer and the dealer. We may, at our discretion, look into a report of misconduct and act on a listing or account, but we are not obliged to take part in or resolve the dispute.

13. Indemnity

You agree to compensate VeloCars for claims, losses and costs arising from your listings, your dealings with other users, or your breach of these terms or the law.

14. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using VeloCars after a change, the updated terms apply.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
